An eternal battle between two technology giants, Apple and Samsung, moves to a table football pitch. In late November, professional foosball players from Team Foosin will play a match with Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and Apple iPad 3 tablets, placed at the gates, and test their resistance to kicks.

The eternal battle between the two technology leaders, constantly fighting for higher sales and better image, is well known for the employees of the online store BIGBOX.LT (Lithuania); they are constantly being asked by customers, which is better: Apple or Samsung? While playing table football at work, they got an idea to move the technology giants' fight to a real battlefield – a foosball pitch – and find out, which tablet will last longer unbroken.

The initiators of the idea have secured support from Foosin, table soccer professionals in Lithuania. "A battle between fiercely competing brands on a football table is a good challenge, not only for fans of technology, but also for us. Nobody knows, which ball will break through a tablet and whether there will be any break at all. No one has tried it yet, therefore this makes our players’ blood boil even more," – said Simonas Jakubauskas, Foosin founder and CEO. According to him, the tournament is a unique opportunity to show a game of the highest level and thus promote table football not only as a form of entertainment, but also as a demanding sport.

In this game, goalkeepers will be replaced by the tablets, whose resistance to kicks will be clarified by four experienced Team Foosin players, who have won the highest places in many Lithuanian and international table soccer championships. In order to create different levels of complexity, 3 different types of balls will be used: cork (light, soft), plastic (average weight, adhesive) and technopolymer (heavy, very hard plastic and rough surface).  The team that breaks a tablet first will be considered a winner.

  • The battle between “Apple” and “Samsung” will take place at eSports lounge bar in Kaunas, Lithuania, on 22 November.
  • All users registered on www.foosbox.lt can guess the result of the fight, watch the game live and win a tablet.
